IMPORTANT UPDATE: (Oct. 5; Updated Oct. 11)
The good news is that we've got everything covered, that the conference has a venue and everyone who had a hotel registration will have a room somewhere at the same price.
The bad news that we got Thursday at 5 p.m. was that our conference hotel, the Sheraton Four Points, is closing in one week. (a small elevator fire revealed major life-safety concerns).
The Peoria Convention and Visitors' Bureau has been awesome, working with us to relocate everything. We will have a 30,000 sq. ft Vendor/Dining/Plenary Session Hall at the Peoria Civic Center, two blocks from the museum and Saturday meals at the Marriott Pere Marquette. Everything at the museum stays at the museum.
Most of you will be at the new Holiday Inn & Suites, East Peoria, 1.5 miles from the museum, and some of you will be at the Mark Twain Hotel two blocks from the museum. Our two conferences took all of the remaining inventory from three nearby hotels. By now, you should have received an email from me telling you that you should contact the hotel. That e-mail said that you have been entered into their system and they need your credit card number to hold the room. There will be morning and evening transportation from the Holiday Inn into Peoria.
If you already had a reservation at another area hotel, good choice. If you haven't made your hotel reservation yet, look for other hotels beyond a two mile radius of the museum, near to the Interstate and you'll have a quick commute in. There are lots of hotel properties in town further out and should be lots of capacity outside of the downtown - I always recommend reading the reviews from Hotels.com or TripAdvisor. There's a chance there will be a few extra rooms in our hotel block too if you want to wait.
Conference Registration will be at the Riverfront Museum on Wednesday, open sometime mid-afternoon. Watch the GLPA website agenda and calendar for the exact time. At this point, most of the agenda is intact, only the venues have changed.
Thank you for your patience. It will be a great conference. See you soon.
